This lammy coat for women is the classic pilot jacket, but cut roomier and made from faux leather. The outside has a slightly weathered, uneven vintage finish, so the jacket looks like you've already worn it for a few winters, right from day one. The inside is lined from collar to hem with soft, curly teddy fabric, which shows visibly on the lapels.

The cut is deliberately oversized. The shoulder seam sits low, the sleeves are wide and the jacket ends just at the hip, so a thick jumper or roll-neck fits easily underneath. You can wear the wide lapel collar open, or button it with the tab under the collar, so it closes around your neck like a high standing collar. Turn back the sleeve once and the teddy shows there too.

How to wear it

The volume sits up top, so keep it narrow down below: slim trousers or jeans, or a short skirt with thick tights and boots. That gives you the proportion this oversized jacket needs. A roll-neck or a thick jumper fits underneath, which is also exactly the reason to wear it in this size. The brown version is the tougher of the two and looks great with black and dark blue; beige is softer and works with cream, camel and light denim. A big scarf around your neck finishes the look, without crowding the collar.

Colours

The lammy coat comes in two colours. Brown is a deep chocolate brown with a weathered finish, black teddy, black buttons and a black teddy trim along the pockets: the most classic pilot jacket version. Beige is a soft sand shade with cream-coloured teddy at the collar and lapels and buttons in the same light shade, giving the jacket a lighter, calmer look.

Size and fit

This style has a roomy fit. The bust width runs from 120 cm at size S to 128 cm at L, the shoulder width from 57 to 59 cm and the length from 66 to 68 cm, so the jacket ends just at the hip. Care

Faux leather with a teddy lining doesn't belong in the washing machine. Wipe the outside with a slightly damp cloth and then dry it with a soft cloth. If the teddy on the collar has flattened, brush it up gently with a clothes brush. Hang the jacket on a wide hanger so the shoulders keep their shape, and let it air dry after a rain shower instead of near the heating, since direct heat makes faux leather stiff.
