This short cape for women has no buttons and no zip. From the high, round collar, a wide scarf panel falls forward, which you drape diagonally across your chest and let hang over your shoulder. Below that, the cape flares out to just past the hip, with short, wide cape sleeves that let your arms move freely. The whole thing stays in place because of the way the fabric falls, not through a fastening.

The fabric is densely felted and lightly brushed, with a mottled melange that shows grey and beige blending together up close. The edges of the scarf panel are left unfinished, without a hem or trim, which keeps the drape soft rather than breaking stiffly along a seam. As an autumn coat, it sits exactly in the right spot: warmer than a cardigan, lighter than a winter coat.

How to wear it

Since the cape itself already has volume, it works best over something slim. Over skinny jeans or leather trousers with boots you get the proportion you see in the photos, and with black tights and ankle boots it becomes a city look. Underneath the cape, a fine roll-neck jumper or a thin jumper fits without feeling tight. Pull the scarf panel tightly over your shoulder for a closed, warm silhouette, or let it fall more loosely if you want to show more of the collar. A shoulder bag with a thin strap keeps the drape intact, a large bag over your arm disturbs it.

Colour and sizes

The cape comes in two colours. Brown/beige is a soft taupe with a warm undertone, which goes well with cream, camel and denim. Dark grey is a deep anthracite that leans towards black and goes with almost everything. Available in sizes S, M, L and XL.

Size and fit

This is a distinctly roomy cut. The bust width ranges from 124 cm at size S to 140 cm at XL, the shoulder width from 51 to 55 cm and the length from 70 to 74 cm. If you're unsure between two sizes, choose the larger one, as the cape is meant to fall loosely over your clothes.

Care

Felted fabric doesn't like harsh washing. Hang the cape up to air out after wearing and brush away lint with a clothes brush in the direction of the weave. Gently dab small stains with a slightly damp cloth. For a thorough clean, take it to the dry cleaner's, which is by far the safest option for this kind of fabric. Hang it on a wide hanger so the shoulders keep their shape, and lay the scarf panel loosely over the hanger rather than folding it.
