The cape collar is the whole story

What makes this jacket is the generous, pointed collar that falls like a short cape over your shoulders and runs well down your back. Because the jacket is reversible, that collar always shows the other fabric. Wear the olive green side, and it falls open in a check pattern; wear the check side, and you get an olive green collar. You lay it wide across your shoulders or keep it high and close to the neck, and the jacket changes character every time. The folded cuffs do the same on a small scale, so the contrast fabric comes back at your wrists too.

How to wear it

The olive green side is the quiet choice: over wide jeans and a simple T-shirt it becomes a put-together look right away, and with white trousers and loafers you can head straight to lunch in it. Turn it around, and the check motif does the work, so a plain outfit underneath is enough. Over a dress with boots this is a lovely autumn jacket, over shorts with rain boots a jacket for a day outdoors. Because the cut is oversized and the jacket falls just over the hip, it looks best with narrow or very wide trousers, and less so with something that hangs halfway.

Colour and sizes

The jacket comes in one colourway with two faces: a muted olive green leaning towards khaki, and a large check motif in sky to cornflower blue with thin lines in olive green and soft pink. Both sides combine with denim, white, cream and black, so you can leave the rest of your wardrobe untouched. Available in sizes S, M and L.

Size and fit

This is deliberately a roomy style. The bust runs from 113 cm at size S to 123 cm at size L, the shoulder width from 43 to 45 cm and the length from 72 to 74 cm, so the jacket falls just over the hip. The sleeves are on the long side at 60 to 62 cm and are usually folded over once, which also looks best because then you see the contrast fabric. The full size chart is on this page. Care

Button the jacket closed before washing it, so the large collar keeps its shape. Wash it on a delicate programme with similar colours and don't use bleach, as that pulls the colours in the check motif unevenly. Let the jacket dry hanging rather than in the dryer, with the collar laid flat downwards. Iron it if needed on a medium setting, and do so on both sides, so both outer sides look equally well cared for.
