Ruffles across the front and a slit up to the thigh

A ruffle runs over each shoulder, continues across the front of the skirt and along the hem, and the front slit cuts straight through the middle of it. The bodice above is smooth and fitted, with a square neckline and an open back. The dress goes all the way to the floor and comes in five colours: brown, light blue, red, burgundy and black.

What you get

Ruffles: They catch the light differently to the smooth fabric around them, and that's what gives the dress its movement.

Front slit: It opens as you walk and falls closed again as you stand still, so the length never gets in your way.

Fitted bodice: The top half sits close to the body, and from the hip the skirt takes over.

Open back: The back is cut deep between the straps, so the dress calls for a strapless bra or one with detachable straps.

Floor-length: Made for receptions, weddings and evenings where the dress code is printed on the invitation.

Which size to choose

The dress runs from XS to 2XL. The size chart on this page shows the bust, waist and hip measurements in centimetres for each size. These are body measurements, not dress measurements: measure yourself and choose the size your measurements fall into. If you're between two sizes, go for the larger one — the bodice is fitted, so you don't want to be short on room there.

The dress goes all the way to the floor and is designed to be worn with heels. If you'd rather wear it flat, keep in mind that the hem will trail on the floor, so have it taken up.

What to wear it with

Let the dress do the work: a clutch, a pair of earrings and heels, that's all you need. A necklace clashes with the square neckline and breaks up the line. Black and burgundy are the classic evening colours, red is the most eye-catching, and brown and light blue are the softer choices for a daytime wedding.

Care

Wash the dress on a cold, short cycle in a wash bag, or take it to the dry cleaner. Do not tumble dry: the ruffles and thin fabric keep their shape best if you let the dress drip-dry on a hanger. Iron on the lowest setting on the inside if needed, and keep the iron away from the ruffles.
