This checked blouse for women is the classic lumberjack blouse in a roomy, modern cut. The flannel is soft and lightly brushed, so the check doesn't stay sharply defined but fades slightly at the edges, exactly as a flannel shirt should. You buy it once and wear it across three seasons: loose over a T-shirt in spring, buttoned up in autumn, and under a coat as an extra layer in winter.

The cut is deliberately generous. The shoulder seam sits low, the sleeves are long and the whole thing reaches down over the hip, so you can just as easily wear it open as a light overshirt. At the front are two flap chest pockets, fastened with the same white buttons that also appear on the button placket and the cuffs.

How to wear it

The easiest way is completely open over a white T-shirt or camisole, with straight or wide jeans underneath. If you want to show your waist, button it halfway and tie the bottom panels loosely together above your trousers, which you'll often see in the photos too. Buttoned up with the sleeves rolled up, it becomes a blouse in its own right, lovely with black trousers or a leather skirt. And because the cut is roomy, it fits easily over a thin roll-neck jumper, so you can keep wearing it well into winter.

Colours and sizes

The blouse comes in nine check patterns, from subtle to bold. Alongside the classic combinations with grey and dark red or grey and dark green, there are lighter versions with a cream-coloured base, and brighter patterns where pink, orange or yellow runs across the grey. Each pattern has its own character, but the cut and finish are the same throughout. Available in sizes S, M, L and XL.

Size and fit

This is an oversized cut. The bust width runs from 108 cm at size S to 126 cm at XL, the length from 70 to 76 cm and the sleeve length from 57 to 60 cm. Choose your normal size if you want the roomy, relaxed look from the photos. Care

Wash the blouse inside out on a cold to lukewarm cycle with similar colours, so the check keeps its depth and the fibres don't fuzz. Do not use bleach. Hang it dripping wet on a hanger instead of putting it in the dryer, and you'll usually not need to iron it at all. If you do, do it on a moderate setting on the inside. Flannel gets a little softer with every wash, so it feels better after a month than it did on day one.
